About the blog
We’re a site dedicated to helping people learn the basics of how to shoot and share better youth sports photos—without all the tech-y jargon—and have fun while doing it. We’ll be covering tips and tricks for taking better pictures but we’ll also go beyond simple mechanics. We’ll dive into photo editing, equipment reviews, software how-to’s, capturing memorable images on and off the field, sharing your images with friends, family and teammates and even some tips on the best ways to interact with players, coaches, officials and fans. In the end, youth sports is all about learning and having fun. We believe photographing it should be too.
My daughters both played sports at just about every level growing up. From youth leagues all the way through college, I was on the sidelines of countless courts and fields all over the midwest, capturing their experiences and making my fair share of mistakes along the way. Now that my grandkids are playing sports, I’m back in the game with a whole new set of modern tools at my disposal and years of experience under my belt. This blog is my attempt to share the many tips and tricks I’ve learned through trial and error over the years. I’m also looking forward to picking up a few pointers along the way from all of you. Hope you come along for the ride. Oh, and send me some of your favorite photos too. I’d love to see them.
